How the Roulette Payout Table Works
Roulette payouts are determined by how many numbers a single bet covers. The fewer numbers covered, the higher the return ratio. A straight-up bet on one number pays 35:1. A split across two adjacent numbers pays 17:1. A street covering three numbers pays 11:1. A corner on four numbers pays 8:1. A six-line across two rows pays 5:1. Dozens and columns each
cover twelve numbers and pay 2:1. Outside bets — red or black, odd or even, low or high — each cover eighteen numbers and pay 1:1. European roulette uses a single-zero wheel, which gives the house a 2.7% edge. American roulette adds a double-zero pocket, raising the house edge to 5.26%. Knowing those numbers shapes which bets you choose.
